Laboratory – Research and Development
 Research and development activities are essential in ensuring Dequachim's future. Our field of research covers
aluminium-based products.
At present, research is conducted from scientific, technical and management viewpoints. The research team is composed of highly specialised chemists.
The laboratories are equipped with analytical tools and pilot production facilities, specifically:
- ICP atomic adsorption to make quantitative and qualitative analyses of trace elements.
- BET to perform analyses of the surface area, pore size and pore volume
- laser particle size analyser
- A pilot unit with reactor (stainless reactor) able to work at hot temperatures, equipped and flexible.
- Filtration units
- Autoclave 10 bars / 180°C
- Spray-dryer unit with vaporisation capacity of 25-30 kg water/hour.
- Drying and calcination ovens
In addition, we have a network of Belgian and foreign university partners (ULB, UCL, ULG, ISICHt, Ecoles des Mines d'Albi,etc.). We regularly host student interns from other European countries.
Our R&D department has a two-fold mission:
- To improve our manufacturing processes continuously.
- To develop new products
All our projects are handled according to our Quality System, as follows:
- Literature search.
- Technical feasibility study.
- Definition of experimental procedures and analytical and control methods.
- Tests (study parameters, etc.).
- Financial assessment and profitability study.
- Pilot plant trials and optimisation of operating conditions. µ
- Technical and financial conclusions and full definition of the industrial process.
Technical Expertise
DEQUACHIM provides customer support for product design and industrial processes.
Hazardous waste recovery
 Dequachim hazardous waste recovery activities meet two needs:
- reduction of hazardous waste disposal costs,
- responding to growing market demands for greater reprocessing and recovery rather than simple disposal, which is not environmentally-friendly.
After full analysis of the type of waste and verification with pre-established specifications that have been agreed upon by both parties (Dequachim and client), the most appropriate waste recovery treatment is applied.
All administrative and regulatory procedures required by the competent authorities are strictly followed. Traceability is therefore guaranteed

DEQUACHIM is certified for the disposal of the following types of waste
- Acidic solution containing sulphuric acid and dissolved aluminium
- Solution of hydrochloric and sulphuric acids
- Alkaline solution containing caustic soda and dissolved aluminium

- Filtration cake containing aluminium hydroxide
- Powders or chips containing metallic aluminium
- Wastes from aluminium pyrometallurgy
